Alphabet Street – Albums K

Thursday 30th October / presented by Adam Trainer Peter Barr

Time to stroll down the street of letters,  taking in the sights that present themselves in the form of Album names.

And today we’re looking at the album launched Pulp, Different Calss.  Releasaed in 1995, the title alludes to social commentary, and also to pedigree.

Released in 1979 its seriousness in scope, is deftly balanced by a lighthearted attitude.

A is for Abraxas, for Santana’s classic 1970 Latin Rock sound.

B is for Bad Brains, the harrowing and surprising self-titled album of some DC Rastafarians.

C is for Cut, The Slits 1979 Post-Punk debut album, ripping it up and starting again.

D is for Different Class, Pulps 1995 album, championing the cultural class.

E is for Entroducing, DJ Shadow’s amazing trip into samples and beats.

F is for Farside Virtual, James Ferraro’s trip into the world of vapourwave.

G is for Goat, from The Jesus Lizard and their most acclaimed touched by the Albini flame.

H is for Horses, Patti Smith’s debut from 1975 encased in a memorable album artwork.

I is for It Takes A Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back, Public Enemy’s battle cry for social equality.

J is for Journey in Satachidananda, free form wonder by Alice Coltrane.

K is for Kollaps, from Einstürzende Neubauten, full of custom-built instruments and natural occurring noises.
