Astrofest Convention Prepared For Launch

Have you ever wanted to look into the night sky through giant telescopes but never got a chance? Well this Saturday you can at Astrofest held at Curtin Stadium.

It’s an astronomy festival of epic proportions where you can learn more about the night sky, explore the Universe and take a look through some of Western Australia’s biggest telescopes. The convention will also engage the celebration of Australian science, further featuring a myriad of interesting, engaging and exciting indoor and outdoor activities.

On The Record presenter Fiona Bartholomaeus took the opportunity to catch up and chat with Gregory Rowbotham, who is the Primary Event Coordinator of Astrofest.

Together they sit down to discuss the challenges associated with organising the festival with the uncertainties of the pandemic, including highlighting the benefits of having real astronomers and scientists being able to interact with the community about astronomy, and why it’s important to have these astronomy events to inspire people and encourage them to learn more about astronomy.

Astrofest is a free event that will be taking place at Curtin University Stadium on November 13, 2021.
