Asylum Seeking

Monday 13th January / presented by Rewi Lyall

It’s an issue that continues to divide, anger and unite us all.

It’s a issue with human beings at its centre; human beings our Government seems intent on hiding – human beings being shuffled around like pawns in a miserable game of Chess.

Wherever you stand on Asylum seeking, the treatment of the individuals while on Australian shores and at sea must be addressed.

Following the release of a poll on the treatment of asylum seekers and various reports into the mental & physical health of those on Nauru and Manus Island, policies by the current Government continue to punish individuals rather than identify why they’re fleeing their own countries in the first place.

Curtin University Centre for Human Rights lecturer, Dr Caroline Fleay met with Rewi Lyall this morning.
