Australia and the United Nations

It’s a topic that has been blown out of proportion. With the election to be held this Saturday to decide the future of Australia i has come as no surprise that the question of what to do with Asylum Seeker arriving by boat has received its usual overstated share of undue political attention.

A mere few weeks ago the prime minister changed his stance on Asylum Seekers coming into Australia by boats and adopted yet another offshore tactic.

Last week, the United Nations found Australia guilty of 150 violations of international law over the indefinite detention of 46 refugees. It was one of the most damning assessments of human rights in this country by the United Nations.
