Australia ‘COPped’ Commitments Following Glasgow Climate Summit
The two-week long COP26 Climate Summit hosted in Glasgow (United Kingdom) came to a close this weekend, which garnered international scrutiny and extensive media coverage.
With a deal eventually struck and many commitments made over the fortnight, global governments are starting to step up their devotion to meet mid-century net zero global emission targets.
However, did the decisions part of the summit go far enough and how will it impact the future of our planet?
On The Record presenter Jeff Bullen is joined in the studio with Professor Christian Downie from the School of Regulation and Global Governance at The Australian National University.
Together they sit down to discuss whether the final deal will go far enough in limiting riding worldwide temperatures, including the deals Australia sought to adhere towards regarding the lowering emissions, and how developing countries on the forefront of Climate Change will be affected by the conference outcome.
