Australian Lecturer Jailed in Iran

Thursday 5th March / presented by Lawrence Drown

Melbourne lecturer Dr Kylie Moore-Gilbert was arrested in summer 2018, and is currently serving 10 years’ jail sentence based on unknown charges.

This act is drawing international scrutiny, including from writers group PEN International, who prize themselves as remaining observant of the intersection between writing and politics.

PEN Perth Chair Robert Wood spoke to RTRFM about the situation, as well as to inform listeners of an event being held in solidarity at the State Library of Western Australia on March 19, focusing on the barriers to political justice even in an age of open information.
