Balance for Better Panel

Friday 8th March / presented by Bec Bowman

Here to discuss organised labour and equity is Monica from MEAA Union, Performing Arts Mental Health Advocate Sun Mi, and RTRFM's general manager, Karen. This panel of women join Bec on Artbeat for International Women's Day.

They discuss the impacts on women, and how balance is a necessity in all kinds of labour; whether emotional, domestic or work-related. Parenting methods are looked into, as well as female representation in the artistic industries. While there is a focus on women's equality today, raising awareness for male struggles and all gender expression is also of key importance; including support systems surrounding mental health, and limiting male and female victimisation.

The panel suggest solutions in order to bring about change; such as altering government policies, diversifying representation and adapting solutions from other countries. While there are still major issues to be dealt with, today is about raising up women and treating this 51% of the population equally.
