Cactus Pear For My Beloved: A Family Story From Gaza by Samah Sabawi

In July last year author Samah Sabawi was travelling around Gaza to reconnect with family ahead of her latest novel. Then in October, war erupted and most of what she saw has now been erased.

A year on and her novel Cactus Pear For My Beloved: A Family Story from Gaza has hit shelves, telling the story of her family and homeland through the eyes of ordinary Gazans over the past 100 years.

For book club this week, Danielle Raffaele spoke with Samah about the novel and started by asking how this personal release compared with other works she had published.
