Calexico hit the road again ahead of Perth Festival

Forming in Tucson, Arizona in 1996, Calexico are the type of band that musical genres are invented for. ‘Desert noir’, ‘indie-mariachi’ and ‘Mexi-Americana’ are some of the terms used when speaking about the band, and while these are all apt descriptions for the group, they are not an easy band to pigeonhole.

With an impressive career spanning nearly 30 years, Calexico have released 12 albums and their live shows are always memorable. The band recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of their breakthrough album Feast of Wire with a string of album shows as well as a deluxe reissue version of the LP.

They are bringing the Feast of Wire show to Perth on February 21 at The Rechabite as part of Perth Festival.

RTRFM’s Blainie joins founding member Joey Burns to chat about the group’s future and their recent tour of Europe getting stuck into how audiences have been responding to the band.
