Commit to Community Radio – National Day of Action Recap

Yesterday, Community Radio stations across the country joined together in a National Day of Action to raise awareness of a nationwide campaign to ensure the digital future of the community radio sector.

It came in response to last years federal budget, which cut funding for community digital radio services by $1.4 million per annum, making it impossible to maintain all current services.

Among other initiatives, it saw the Australian Greens call on the Federal Government to ensure funding for community digital radio services.

Greens communications spokesperson Senator Scott Ludlam and Greens Deputy Leader Adam Bandt brought motions in both the Senate and the House recognising the contribution made to Australian society by community broadcasters - and calling on the Government to commit to adequate support for them.
