FITTER | HAPPIER: December 1st is World AIDS Day

Thursday 30th November / presented by Annie Morris

This focused topic in this weeks segment of Fitter Happier was centered around HIV and AIDS. This is because tomorrow (Friday the 1st of December) is World AIDS Day. HIV is considered today as a chronic but manageable condition which can be treated...Most people who are diagnosed with HIV lead normal and healthy lives; along with a similar life expectancy to people who don’t have HIV.

The Department of Health of WA is the primary funder of the WA AIDS Council. The council leads the WA community with a wide range of services in the prevention of HIV, sexually transmitted infections and blood borne viruses...as well as treatment and caring of people living with HIV and AIDS.

Gary Kuchel, Clinical Nurse from Perth's M Clinic, came to speak more on this important issue, as well as discussing the benefits in World AIDSDay, and how else people can prevent themselves and others from contracting a Sexually Transmitted Disease.

Produced with the assistance of the Department of   Communications and the Arts via the   Community Broadcasting Foundation. Find out more at  www.cbf.org.au.
