Dr Ana Manero: surfing the economy

Surfing is one of Australia’s most iconic sports, and it’s often assumed it makes a large contribution to the country’s tourism and recreation industries.

Despite it’s iconic status and popularity the surf industry lacks a specific assessment of its true economic value.

As a result this makes it vulnerable to planning and environmental changes that could impact it operation. Dr. Ana Manero, a postdoctoral research fellow at ANU’s Crawford school of public policy, spoke with RTRFM’s Will Yagmich about Surfing economics.
