Dr Christina Davies wants to empower people with their relationship between the arts and mental health
Today, Wednesday 20TH March, is International Happiness Day.
Dr Christina Davies is the chief investigator of the Good Arts, Good Mental Health project based at The University of Western Australia … and she joins us to talk about the Good Arts, Good Mental Health program and its links to increasing our happiness.
Dr Davies noted that shared arts activities, such as going to gigs/events, painting, sewing and more are extremely beneficial for mental health.
They shared that people always link sport, eating well and not drinking too much alcohol to happiness, but it was now time to start linking art to mental health too. Dr Davies added that for the Arts dose, you need to participate in at least 2 hours of art per week.
Dr Davies shared that “You don’t have to be good at arts, for arts to be good for you.”
