Dystopian Pop with Gwenno

Thursday 13th August / presented by Adam Christou Caitlin Nienaber

Welsh artist Gwenno Saunders has had quite the musical journey.

At age 17, she was dancing in Michael Flatley’s productions of Lord of the Dance and Feet Of Flames in Las Vegas.

In her twenties, she joined British girl group The Pipettes, and later found herself touring with Elton John, playing synth in his live band.

Now in her early thirties, Gwenno has returned to her home in Cardiff, Wales.

Last year, she released her debut solo album Y Dydd Olaf , and this year it received a wider release through Heavenly Recordings.

RTRFM’s Music Director and Tuesday Out to Lunch presenter, Adam Christou, caught up with Gwenno and to chat about the album’s reception, the importance of language and the future of pop music.
