Epilepsy Discrimination

Tuesday 19th March / posted by Chris Wheeldon

Epilepsy is the most common chronic brain disorder in the world, and contrary to popular belief, it’s not a mental illness.

Anyone can be affected by epilepsy at any age, so why do its sufferers’ face discrimination and exclusion in a country like ours where over 220,000 people are living with the condition?

This is what new research released asks and aims to rectify.

Epilepsy Association of WA Executive Officer Suresh Rajan and mother of epileptic child, Rebecca Ponting provide some perspective from two sides of the story.
