Exhibition: Life in Children’s Homes and Institutions

Thursday 13th March / posted by Chris Wheeldon

What's it like being in a child living in institutional care? The exhibition Life in Children's Homes and Institutions features emotional personal accounts of some of the half a million Australian’s who have lived in homes and institutions during the 20th century. The experience of living in an institution as a child is told through childhood objects, through moving art works and rare fragments left in these homes. The exhibition curator, Doctor J Arthur says although these individuals may have left the homes years ago, the homes do not leave them.
