FITTER | HAPPIER: Combating the problem of antibiotic-resistant bacteria

Antibiotics have been around for about 80 years, and many of us take them for granted. However, some strains of bacteria are evolving to become resistant to these drugs, making them less effective as a treatment.

Fortunately, health systems around the world are applying themselves to the problem.

We’re joined by Dr. Claire Italiano, an Infectious Diseases Physician at the East Metro Health Service, to discuss what efforts are underway in WA to preserve the effectiveness of antibiotic medication.
