Girls in Tech Launches First Australian Chapter

Wednesday 7th September / presented by Tanya Bunter

The number of women who have gained science, technology, engineering and mathematics qualifications in Australia has steadily increased over the past decade.

Yet according to recent data from 2011, 84 per cent of people with a STEM qualification were male.

Girls in Tech, a global non-profit organisation which recently launched in Australia, aims to empower, educate and mentor women in the technology industry.

The organisation runs workshops, courses, events and programs for women, who are studying or working in the tech industry, in the hope of women becoming more involved in science and technology.

Girls in Tech CEO and founder Adriana Gascoigne joined Tanya Bunter on The Mag to discuss the organisation's expansion to Australia.
