Understorey: Groups respond to the Environment Minister Part 1

Wednesday 28th May / presented by Elizabeth PO’ Adrian Glamorgan

Following last week’s interview with the state Minister for the Environment, Albert Jacob, Understorey approaches the environment movement for their reaction to the Minister’s declared priorities.

Piers Verstegen (Conservation Council of WA), Peter Robertson (Wilderness Society and Martin Pritchard (Environs Kimberley), each say they are open and positive about some Kimberley and national park measures, but all have concerns about the lack of attention to some other key priorities.

Most surprising, Understorey discovers this week that, despite conservation groups approaches and longstanding practice, the Minister has not formally met with any of the key environment groups since coming to office 13 months ago.
