HTLV1 Virus – What To Know

Thursday 31st May / presented by Jorja Keay

Human T-lymphotropic virus type 1 (HTLV1) is a retrovirus that causes a chronic infection throughout the body and also causes damage to the immune system. The virus has been popping up all over the world and can only be passed on from person-to-person via the transmittance of sex or blood.

So how does one figure out or know if they're carrying the virus in the first place?
And if they are, what treatments are available?

To find out we had RTRFM reporter Ben Davidson speak to Dr. Fabiola Martin (from ASHM; the Australasian Society for HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexual Health Medicine) to ask her these questions - plus more - regarding the odisease.
