In Bob We Trust

Tuesday 3rd December / posted by Chris Wheeldon

Larger than life and a lover of living, Father Bob Maguire is more than many ever imagined – perhaps, a lot more than he was ever supposed to be.

On radio, online, and on the streets of South Melbourne, he has fans that have never met him, and many that he has personally helped have a better life. He’s lived there for 38 years, working with the community’s poor and disaffected—‘the unloved and the unlovely’ as he calls them.

At the age of 75, the Church hierarchy invited Father Bob to retire but he didn’t want to. Peter Barr and Simon Miraudo spoke to Father Bob to find out why.
