Invisible Homeless

Wednesday 7th August / presented by Jonny Hopper

This week is Homeless Person’s Week, an annual event aiming to raise awareness of homelessness around Australia.

We’re shining a light on the issue that’s often pushed into the dark, and learning more about some places that offer support.

Like St. Bartholomew’s House - a shelter providing community based support, accommodation and assistance to homeless people.

This year St. Bart’s celebrates 50 years of helping people.

This year also, the home has seen a new face of homelessness that includes single parent families, single older women and those on low incomes who are unable to access affordable housing.

They’re the ‘Invisible Homeless’.

Manager of Aged Care Services at St. Bart’s, Sally Kingdon-Barbosa is with me this morning.
