Are news stories about teachers overly negative?

Teachers are frustrated with negative reporting and the lack of context behind news stories about education, according to Dr Kathryn Shine from Curtin University.

As she told Breakfast with Taylah host Taylah Strano, education is very complex and has changed drastically over the years, which some reporters have failed to grasp since they left school.

Dr Shine also shared the toll taken on teachers during lockdown, especially those who received backlash from the media perception that they didn’t pull their weight properly.
