It’s Ok to not be OK.

Monday 6th October / posted by Chris Wheeldon

This week is Mental Health Week, with Friday being World Mental Health day.

It is estimated the one in five Australian adults will suffer some form of mental disorder during their lifetime, and 26% of people between 16 -24 suffering mental illness in some form. That’s approximately 671, 000 young people. Only 23% of these will seek medical services in some form.

Over the next few weeks, we will air a short series of reports about mental illnesses and their impact on people from all walks of life.

This week, Youth Reporter Dylan Websdane spoke to several young people and discovered how mental illness affects our youth.

Need to talk? Please call Lifeline on 13 11 14, Kids Helpline on 1800 551 800 or Beyond Blue on 1300 224 636. Or have a chat to someone you trust.
