Labor Proceeds with Uranium Mining

Monday 26th June / presented by Chris Butler

The WA Government has delivered on an election commitment to ban uranium mining – but it will not stop four projects that already had approval from proceeding.

Labor had previously opposed any form of uranium mining but Mr McGowan shifted the party’s position to allow any approved mines to begin construction.

The conservation council of WA says the decision to allow uranium mines to proceed is a kick in the guts for communities and the environment.

To voice their concerns, the CCWA plans to protest at Parliament House on Thursday.

KERRI-ANNE GARLIC is a community campaigner for the CCWA and she joins us now to discuss Labor’s position on Uranium.
