Living on Simulated Mars and Tickets to Space!

Lots happening in the space industry so far this month. First NASA announced they were looking for volunteers to live on a simulated Martian surface for 12 months. The experiment was designed to learn about and understand the physical, technological and mental challenges that future astronauts may face. Then we saw that Virgin Galactic has started selling tickets to space. The commercialised space flights will begin in 2022 with the starting price of one ticket at US$450,000. Sara Webb, astrophysicist from Swinburne University spoke to Fiona Bartholomaeus about these announcements.
