Liza Lim on ‘Transcendental Etude’

Kirill Gerstein is a showman, a philosopher, poet of the piano.

He grew up playing jazz, switched to classical and won the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition at just 22.

Now, Kirill Gerstein is touring with Musica Viva Australia, and coming to Perth’s Concert Hall on June, 23. He will draw upon his unimpeachable technique to perform works by Liszt, Schumann, Poulenc, and Chopin and more.

Alongside him, Kirill brings a commissioned piece by Liza Lim.
Liza Lim is a Professor of Composition and holds the inaugural Sculthorpe Chair of Australian Music (2019-2024) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. The composition ‘Transcendental Etude‘ will be world premiering at the concert hall.
