Mature forrest logging endangers Australian Glider species

The forests of Victoria have been the subject of new research from Curtin University that has revealed logging of mature forests is putting two Australian glider species at risk of extinction.

The Southern Greater Glider and The Yellow-bellied Glider make their habitat in the hollows of mature trees that take hundreds of years to form. These new findings have brought about calls to end the logging of mature forests before further habitat is destroyed and recovery methods will be insufficient to support these threatened species.

Curtin University Adjunct Professor at the  School of Molecular and Life Sciences Dr. Grant Wardell-Johnson joined Tom Reynolds for On The Record to discuss.
