Movie Squad: Guns Akimbo & Honeyland

Friday 21st February / presented by Taylah Strano Simon Miraudo

The Movie Squad return for another week, this week Movie Squad Podcast guest host Cecilia Allen will be joining the crew to review some of the latest movies.

Guns Akimbo:

Daniel Radcliffe stars as Miles, an internet troll who gets guns surgically bolted to his hands and thrown into the a real life video game scenario. The fight to the death style game called Skizm is broadcast live via drones and played throughout the city streets. Simon Miraudo gives this a review saying it is exactly as bonkers as it sounds, critically this film has received very average reviews.

Honeyland:

Honeyland has been the most awarded film at the Sundance Film Festival this year and received multiple awards at this Oscars as well. This documentary compiles 3 years of footage to tell the story of Hatidže Muratova, a bee keeper in remote north Macedonia. This film follows her relationships with her family and her new neighbours, rival bee keepers. It explores many environmental issues such as climate change and explores themes of consumerism and exploitation. This film wins favour with our Movie Squad critics.
