Thursday 12th October / presented by Chris Mason

This week is Mental Health Week and it's being recognised nation wide across Australia...Throughout the week, The Mag will be looking into the many aspects of mental health & well-being, from a number of viewpoints opinions and perspectives.

On the show today we discussed Growing Up in Australia: an ongoing Longitudinal Study of Australian Children. Originating in 2014, the purpose of this study is to research and observe the developments and life-course trajectories regarding Australia's youth. Recent reports has shown some quite concerning figures....it's been revealed that at least 24% of those who partook in the survey expressed thoughts of self harm on the regular, and where as more than 15% of these people have gone and acted on these thoughts.

Repping on behalf of us here at RTRfm, Jorja Keay spoke to acting Director of AIFS (Australian Institute of Family Services) Anne Hollond by inquiring into the background of this particular study.

REMINDER: If this raises any concerns for you, please seek help. You can contact Lifeline on 13 11 14, or beyondblue on 1300 224 636.
