New Forms: Perth’s Halftime Collective

Wednesday 29th January / presented by Will Backler

This week's local feature album, The Perth Halftime Compilation Vol. 2,  courtesy of local collective New Forms showcases a range of halftime styles and sounds from local bass-obsessed producers.

Halftime in this instance refers to halftime Drum & Bass, a different take on the genre that often shares parallels with hip-hop beats, due to their slower tempos. The compilation features a whopping 17 tracks from some of our cities most exciting emerging producers, all tied together by deep sub-bass, experimental sound design, and interesting arrangements, showing once again that Perth is one of the drum & bass meccas of the world - even at halftime.

Three of the producers from the comp, and members of New Forms, Robwun, WYN and Cruel Noon joined Jackson and Will on Out to Lunch to chat all things about the release. Keep your eyes peeled for an event by New Forms soon with local artists in the spotlight.
