Not so Academic

Tuesday 25th June / presented by James Hall

Many of us work hard for our money and expect to have our jobs until retirement – or until we go for another.

But what if you were forced to re-apply for the job you’d worked hard at for years?

This is what’s happening at Curtin University as a trial of spilling academic positions within some schools is extended across the whole campus.

The University has unprecedented plans to fill all positions by internal and external appointments.

It’s unclear if redundancies are on the way but Academics have condemned the plan.

And the National Tertiary Education Union is pursuing possible litigation.

WA Union Division Secretary Gabe Gooding was in the studio with James Hall.
