October 19th Marks 3rd Global Peer Supporters’ Day

Thursday 19th October / posted by Chris Wheeldon

October 19 is Global Peer Supporters’ Celebration Day. To mark the day, RTRFM’s Jane Hebiton chatted with Cyrenian House Peer Support Plus workers Marisha and John and Project Worker Vanessa Stasiw about how people in our local community are recovering from alcohol and other drug (AOD) addiction.

Peer Support Plus is a project powered by participants who have come through their own recovery process with Cyrenian House and Marisha and John share a part of their own story and how being involved in Peer Support, both as recipients of peer support and recent training to become Peer Support Workers has contributed to their personal recovery story.

If you want to know more about the Peer Support Project and the third Global Peer Supporters’ Celebration day check out Cyrenian House. And you can contact the local Alcohol and Drug Support Line on 9442 5000 at any time.

The Alcohol and Drug Support Line is a confidential, non-judgemental telephone counselling, information and referral service for anyone concerned about their own or another person’s alcohol or drug use. The service is available 24/7 via phone.
