PERTH FESTIVAL 2023 proppaNOW: Occurrent Affair

Engaging wordplay through its title, the OCCURRENT AFFAIR exhibition which references the sensational journalistic style of some television current affair programs, OCCURRENT AFFAIR embraces the slippage between language and its associated readings to probe and present new narratives.

The exhibition will reflect on the ongoing state of affairs affecting Aboriginal communities – issues that are relevant to all Australians. The John Curtin Gallery will be the first of seven venues to present this significant touring exhibition of Aboriginal artists from The University of Queensland Art Museum.

Bec Bowman sits down with Megan Cope and Lily Eather, representing her father, the late proppaNOW artist, Laurie Nilsen, to discuss what’s to expect.
