Perth’s Best of the Beatbox

Tuesday 10th July / presented by Jessica Warriner

Beatboxing emerged in the USA in the 1980s and grew out of hip hop culture. It was created to provide a beat to support MCs when there was no DJ/sound system available. However, there are many recorded cases of vocal percussion being used in India, Africa, and Europe dating back to the early 1900s.

Every year, Beatbox Australia puts on a competition to find Perth’s best beatboxer and last year, Miles Bowman a.k.a. MILO won!

He joined Jess Warrinar on Get Up Morning with vice champion BASSIK to perform a duet beatbox.
