Phones Impacting Public Pool Supervision

In the first published study of its kind, Edith Cowan University has shown that mobile phone use is directly linked to the quality of supervision parents and carers are giving to their children at public pools. The research, conducted in conjunction with Royal Life Saving WA, has shown that nearly one in four parents are distracted by their phones and are failing to give adequate supervision to their children in a public pool environment.

We talk with Lead Researcher and Honours Graduate Student Nicole Wickens about the research, the results, and what we can do to fix it.
