Places & Spaces: Not Very ‘Far From Here’ After All

Friday 26th May / presented by Gemma Sidney

In the 1980s, the family of Claire Robertson once called a north-west mining camp in WA’s home. These empty fly-in-fly out villages represent the decline in the mining boom WA once enjoyed. These ghostly, temporary villages that now lie abandoned in the Pilbara set the scene for Claire’s new exhibition Far From Here.

Exploring what she calls colonial relationships to the landscape and what it means to inhabit a place, Far From Here shows it's audience the vastness of WA’s north through a series of video projections.

Claire's exhibition will be on display at the Fremantle Arts Centre from Sat May 27 until Sun July 16.
