Protests taking shape over Community Closures

Thursday 19th March / presented by Paul Hunt

People are protesting against the Barnett government’s forced closure of Aboriginal communities right now.

Over 2,000 people are in Forrest Chase and heading to Parliament House.

It coincides with other protests and marches across the country – ‘Standing together in solidarity’ and preventing genocide is the message to government, say organisers.

Activist Marianne McKay  was at the protest and spoke to Paul Van Lieshout on #TheMag.

And activist Sam Cook is preparing to protest in Brisbane - and Paul spoke to her as well.

We also spoke to MP for Perth Alannah McTiernan as she joined the march to Parliament House to protest at community closures.
