Putting the Art in Artbeat

Friday 13th December / presented by Jeff Bullen

Alice Jorgensen, venue manager of the State Theatre Centre of WA, joins Jeff in the studio on Artbeat to tell us what's coming up in 2020.

Precipice is taking place in May, repeating a show from 2014. It's a contemporary dance piece, and its companion is yet to be announced so listen out...

This week and next week students from WAAPA are putting on a 1950's version of Romeo and Juliet, and then there is We Belong Together, brought back by popular demand. In the school holidays there are plenty for the kids, with book-based Billionaire Boy, and Room on a Broom in late April. July shows include My Robot which stars an actual robot, one for people of all ages to enjoy.

This is a busy time for art, with the Perth Festival and Fringe World coming to a close. Despite having so much to see, Alice comments on how more people are getting inspired by the arts. Senior Moments is perhaps one for the older people, being a cabaret comedy including some past Play School stars.

With so much variety available in different locations, you can find out what's coming up along with tickets on the State Theatre Centre of WA's website.
