Refugee Housing Offer

Thursday 24th September / presented by Chris Mason

As a response to the world's refugee crisis, Premier Colin Barnett has suggested using the Claremont Showgrounds for housing WA's share of the 12,000 displaced Syrians accepted by Australia.

Claremont Council is supporting the offer made by the Royal Agricultural Society to use the showground for a short-term accommodation for Syrian refugees.

On top of that, the plan includes assistance regarding volunteers and helping refugees with clothing, bedding and other donations.

It’s a clear call for WA to take first steps in doing its part in solving the crisis and help.

Claremont Council CEO Stephen Goode was here to talk about the proposal.
