Challenges Through Refugee Week

Tuesday 20th June / posted by Chris Wheeldon

Despite upcoming centre closures and compensation payouts, immigration policy in Australia remains reactionary, knee-jerk and increasingly populist.

For detainees receiving compensation packages from the government, that payment equals only twenty-four dollars a day.

A lack of institutional support between federal agency decisions, and community integration, is often filled in by community groups.

Before WA's Refugee Rights Action Network host a community forum addressing these and further problems, RTRFM'S KYLIE STURGESS speaks with ARAN MYLVAGANAM from the Tamil Refugee Council about the challenges refugees face in our society.
