Remembered for Eternity

Tuesday 3rd December / posted by Chris Wheeldon

On Sunday evening Australia lost one of its most iconic artists when Martin Sharp passed away at the age of 71.

Sharp’s work blended pop art with psychedelia and captured the likes of Jimi Hendrix and the entrance of Sydney’s Luna Park. But it was perhaps his work as a satirical cartoonist at the magazine Oz, of which he was a co-founder, which will be his strongest cultural legacy.

James Hall invited the Head Curator of Australian Art at the Art Gallery of NSW, Wayne Tunnicliffe, to remember the life and work of Martin Sharp.
