RTRFM’s New Shows

Saturday 2nd February / posted by Chris Wheeldon

In 2013 we welcome four new programs onto the RTRFM grid.
ARTBEAT - Fridays 9am-12pm
Taking over Fridays Morning Magazine, Artbeat takes a look at the artistic world. We delve into what is happening in WA, Australia and the world and how art directly effects everything we do.

We will be talking to local artists, curators, international artists and those who make art their life.
SIAMESE DREAM - Thursdays 7pm-8pm
Brit pop, shoegaze, post-rock, trip hop and more. Digging through the rubble to bring you not just the indie crossover hits from the 90s but an in-depth investigation of lesser known artists and nuggets from the era where flannel and corduroy ruled, Siamese Dream remembers a time before skinny jeans and haircuts took over, when playing it loose, loud and messy was the only way.
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE - Sundays 11pm-1am
Electronic music has for decades been a major source of innovation and experimentalism in music, and it is with this in mind that Artificial Intelligence presents two hours of electronic music for the discerning listener, focusing on leftfield, underground, experimental and otherwise unheard electronica and dance music, with a strong focus on technology.

Artificial Intelligence also presents interviews with producers of electronic music, discussing the technology and equipment behind the musics creation, and finding out just how these innovators harness the technology to create the tunes we love to listen – and dance – to.
DISCO SCIENCE - Mondays 11pm-1am
Disco Science picks up where that classic disco sound left off, pushing the genre into new forms in the constant pursuit of good grooves. Taking in everything from the early 80s sounds of Italo disco to New York punk funk and mutant disco, various styles of funky upbeat house, and into Eurodisco and electroclash, Disco Science sets sail for the dancefloor with a decidedly funky and forward-looking sonic agenda. Fire up the disco ball but leave your flairs at home – this is disco as you’ve never heard it before!
