Sarah Hanson-Young on Immigration

Thursday 29th October / presented by Chris Wheeldon

Even though former Prime Minister Tony Abbott has been spruiking them overseas, Australia's asylum seeker policies are considered by many to be far from being an appropriate, fair and non-discriminatory solution to the world's refugee crisis.

The Greens provide a new immigration program welcoming people from different cultural backgrounds legally - respecting their human rights and dignity.

Considering asylum seekers and refugees as a humanitarian problem and not a national security one, the Greens' immigration policies include limiting and strictly controlling detention as well as protecting children from ever being held in detention.

Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young dropped into RTRFM while she was in Perth to talk about the new plan and the latest developments with Chris Wheeldon.
