Sass The Patriarchy, Improve Music Diversity and Repeat

Friday 8th March / presented by Bec Bowman

Cat and Leisha are not only a part of alternative band This Way North, they are also responsible for Sass The Patriarchy; an event that celebrates and empowers gender in music. Originating from Melbourne, it makes its way to Perth, showcasing women and non-binary talent, and seeks to discuss improving the music industry. This search for equality has taken the duo overseas on tours.

As this is International Women's Day, Cat and Leisha  joined Bec on Artbeat to elaborate on the importance of growth, allowing cis men to support women and education.  They distinguish between sassing the patriarchy and sassing males, as well as talking about the wide range and inclusivity of the Perth music scene.

Sass The Patriarchy is taking place at The Aardvark tonight at 7:00pm, tickets at the door. RTRFM's Taylah Strano will be hosting, as well as many amazing female bands including, of course, This Way North.
