Shadows of Kenya

Thursday 18th June / presented by Anthony Williams

Experimental musicians Stefan Schneider and Sven Kacirek both hail from Germany, but their musical collaboration took them to Kenya, where they familiarised themselves with the various folk musics of the region. Whilst the sound of Kenya might be hard to pick up on in their debut album ‘Shadows Documents’, the trip allowed them an opportunity to think about their craft, and the impact on their musical practice was far subtler than mere cultural adaptation of appropriation.

Anthony Williams spoke to Stefan Schneider ahead of Schneider Kacirek’s Perth show and starting by asking how their time in Australia has been thus far.
