Shoeb Ahmad, musical catharsis and her latest album, Facade

Ngunnawal land/Canberra based artist Sia Ahmad offers a rich and extensive background in Australian music, creating idiosyncratic music over the last decade. Using guitar, keyboard, voice and electronics, she works both as singer/composer and improviser when performing solo work as Shoeb Ahmad.

Her latest record, Facade, rounds off a trio of records made over the past three years that explore identity, trauma and emotional catharsis.

Ahead of Facade‘s release on October 1, RTRFM’s Matt Ferret jumped on the phone to chat about the record, collaborations with artists and friends and Ahmad’s personal journey. They the interview by talking abou the point of inspiration for Sia’s music – listen below.
