Sooks deliver anthems for the disenfranchised with Moral Decay

Sooks, the Boorloo (via Brazil—drummer Rudah’s roots lie in São Paulo) four-piece punk outfit have released their debut album, Moral Decay.

The band have harnessed their collective rage against exponentially misplaced government overreach, the rise of regressive and oppressive social attitudes and techno-feudalism and churned out 14 uncompromising anthems for the disenfranchised.

These are the building blocks of Moral Decay: bolshy motorik drum lines, freewheeling guitar riffs akin to a very musical chainsaw, a metronomic bass chug and fiery vocals that bottle up all of Sooks’ righteous sooking and hurl it back at the world as an acidic molotov cocktail.

It’s a no-frills record that channels the sound and spirit of 1980s first-wave hardcore punk—the music is instinctual and immediate and its message is crystal clear.

Sooks’ Morgin and Ange joined Pam on Breakfast to talk about recording the album in 4 days, Perth’s punk scene and the concept at Moral Decay’s core; ‘Personal is Political’.

Catch Sooks Friday May 24 at Seasonal Brewing Co or Saturday May 25 at The Buffalo Club,

Moral Decay is out everywhere via Permanent Residence.
