SpaceX Rescue Mission for astronauts stranded on ISS – Dr Rebecca Allen

In August earlier this year, two astronauts became stranded on the International Space Station due to safety concerns regarding their returning Boeing Starliner.

SpaceX launched a reduced crew rescue operation which arrived at the ISS yesterday, which will need to wait until February to make their return to earth after their stay was forced to be extended.

Fiona Bartholomaeus is joined by Dr Rebecca Allen, Co-Director of the Space Technology and Industry Institute at the University of Swinburne, to speak about the circumstances of the astronauts’ original mission, their stranding, and their eventual planned return to earth.

They also discuss the International Space Station more broadly, and Dr Allen’s own ongoing research currently taking place on the ISS concerning fungi and astronaut health.

More information on Dr Allen’s experiment can be found here.
