Sticky Carpets And Local Sounds

Monday 25th November / presented by Chris Wheeldon Peter Barr

“Its a place for scumbags and no-hopers” – but it was our place for scumbags and no hopers.

The Hyde Park Hotel, or more commonly, the Hydey – was the place where music was the king, drinking was secondary and what you looked like meant very little.

But then a corporation got hold of it and that ideal became a thing of the past.

Lindsay Hallam and a collection of Perth filmmakers decided that the story of the Hydey needed to be told and Fridey at the Hydey is that story.

Making its world premiere on the final day of our inaugural Gimme Some Truth Documentary Film Festival, this is a story of a scene and the loss of a friend.

Hydey lover, RTR FM’s Chris Wheeldon spoke to director Lindsay Hallem about the movie and started by asking what it feels like to have the film finally completed.
